The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler expects to complete the sale of a couple of long vacant properties in the city of Butler after a local lending institution approved the forgiveness of a large debt.
At their monthly meeting Thursday afternoon, the authority heard that NexTier Bank will allow the sale of the Wishing Well vacant lot at the corner of 150 South Main Street as well as the former Peppers Flowers building at 112 West Cunningham Street for nearly $17,000.
This money will be paid to NexTier in order to satisfy a debt of over $100,000 owed on these properties by the Authority when they were purchased around 15 years ago with a goal of constructing an office complex.
The authority also learned that police were called two separate times over the past couple of months to arrest people who had broken into the old Peppers Flowers building and had been living in there.
