Today is the first day of school for students in the Slippery Rock Area School District.
The district serves approximately 1,940 students in two elementary schools, Slippery Rock Middle School and Slippery Rock High School.
The high school sits across the street from Slippery Rock University. Slippery Rock is the first public school district in Butler County to welcome students back to class so far this school year. Students in Freeport will start class on Thursday.
The Butler Area School District will hold their “Kindergarten Orientation” – known as Kick Start Kindergarten- tonight from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Butler will officially start school on Tuesday.
