According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the cost of raising a child, who was born in 2015, for a middle-income family is about $233,610.
Housing was the biggest cost, followed by food, and then child care, which can cost about $38,000.
That number only covers costs for children from the time their born until they turn 17.
The good news though, the cost only grew three percent in 2015—which is below the average 4.3 percent growth the country has seen since 1960.
