Authorities are cracking down on aggressive and unsafe driving through an upcoming statewide campaign.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is joining with the PA Turnpike Commission, PA State Police, and the Highway Safety Network for a coordinated enforcement day on Wednesday.
The amount of crashes and fatalities caused by aggressive driving factors like speeding, tailgating, or running stop signs have been increasing over the past two years.
State Police and local agencies will concentrate efforts on roadways that have had a high number of aggressive driving crashes using tools including traffic enforcement zones and speed enforcement details.
Motorists encountering an aggressive driver are advised to stay as far away as possible, avoid eye contact, and ignore rude gestures. Aggressive driving can escalate into the criminal offense of road rage.
