The Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is the main moneymaker for the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau, which could be a problem when the event is handed over to a new entity next year.
An audit discussed Thursday at the bureau’s board meeting showed a significant piece of the organization’s operating budget came from the jeep fest. But last month, the bureau approved handing over control of the festival to the Jeep Festival Committee. They will now plan and run the annual event.
Bureau officials say it’s always been the intention to build the event and then pass it over, and they believe the bureau will be fine financially going forward.
