A billboard in Worthington that was purchased by the Armstrong County Democratic Committee was taken down this week.
The sign was on a billboard owned by the company Huntington Billboards of Ohio. It read in part that “No matter who you look like, who you love, what your religion, or where you’re from, you have a friend in Armstrong County.”
According to members of the Armstrong County Democratic Committee, they were told a few people complained about the billboard and the company received death threats over the message.
It was promptly taken down by Huntington.
The sign was positioned opposite of another billboard on Route 422 in Worthington to counter messages that read like “white lives are under attack.”
The committee was fully reimbursed for the month’s rent.
