The Armstrong County Jail has taken steps to better prepare for a situation like they had last year.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, the jail tested a new and louder air raid siren that can be heard over a mile away Thursday afternoon.
The jail also cut some high grass around the facility and also put an emergency telephone alert system into place.
The actions were taken after inmate Robert Crissman left the jail in late July and allegedly killed a woman living nearby before he was apprehended.
