An Armstrong County man has been charged with the brutal murder of his father.
30-year-old George Burdette III was charged Saturday with criminal homicide in the death of his father, 59-year-old George Burdette Jr.
State police say their entire investigation began last week when a report of a suspicious fire came in out of Sugarcreek Township, near East Brady. Police now believe Burdette III set that fire to cover up the homicide
Authorities allege Burdette III and his girlfriend went to this father’s home (where they had also been living) and splashed bleach on his face to disorient him, then hit him in the head multiple times with a baseball bat.
Police say Burdette Jr.’s body was found over a ravine in the woods off Burns Hill Road in Sugar Creek Township wrapped in plastic.
Burdette III remains in the Armstrong County Jail. The girlfriend, 29-year-old Cheyanna Lebaron, has also been charged with homicide.
