The Arizona Diamondbacks halted a four-game win streak for the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 4-1 victory Monday night at PNC Park. Pedro Alvarez accounted for the only Pirate run with his 19th home run of the season, and had two of the Pirates seven hits. But, the Bucs went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Pirate starter Gerrit Cole allowed all four runs by Arizona as his record fell to 14-7. The Diamondbacks entered last night’s game with the second-most stolen bases in the National League, but Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli threw out two Arizona runners last night.
