The offer made by the ARC of Butler County for the former Broad Street Elementary School has been rescinded.
“The whole process was just taking long and there was no end in sight. We had heard that they were just hoping to keep us on the line until they found a for-profit to buy it. We didn’t want to wait around anymore, we just wanted a decision and they weren’t willing to make a decision so we pulled our offer and we’re going to try to go in a different direction again.”
Executive Director John Link said that he delivered a letter to the Butler Administrative offices Tuesday officially pulling their most recent $400,000 bid. The ARC had a sales agreement for $475,000 late last year before the current board backed out.
The organization would like to consolidate two current properties into one central location but properties that would meet their needs are limited.
“We’re looking for land but there are very few options that can really meet our needs. We’d like to be downtown but it doesn’t sound like the mayor wants us downtown even though we’re already downtown.”
Link believes that a conflict of interest with an alternative plan proposed by a current board member may be the cause of indecision on the board.
