The ARC of Butler County will pull their offer for the former Broad Street Elementary School.
According to ARC executive director John Link, the $400,000 offer is being formally withdrawn before the next school board meeting this upcoming Monday.
Link says that too many restrictions were placed on the organization’s conditional use for the facility by Butler City Council. Council voted against the conditional use request by a margin of 3-2 Tuesday night. Link says that a legal challenge to the decision was considered but the ARC does not want to fight with the city or residents.
Due to lack of parking at the school, Link anticipates that apartments or rental housing would be the only use able to meet the requirements. Link says the ARC will regroup to consider alternative places to move, possibly outside the city.
