Following a rare Sunday night session, the Senate adjourned without voting on a budget.
The session lasted four hours, but less than 25 minutes was spent in the open. Members recessed on two occasions, and even paused to caucus on the Senate floor.
The only mention of a budget came from Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack, who quipped maybe something like the miracle of the Hanukkah season will happen in Pennsylvania.
Lawmakers were scheduled to be back at it Monday morning.

The reality of an absent state budget is continuing to cause great concerns in counties all across the commonwealth, including Butler.
During a meeting Monday morning, the Butler County commissioners discussed authorizing a temporary withdrawal of up to $220,000 from the county’s operating reserve to counterbalance not having any state money come in. The board will vote on the matter Wednesday.
Chairman of the Board Bill McCarrier said the county has already used $1.3 million of its own money so far during the budget impasse, with most of those funds going to support the county’s human services providers.
Director of Human Services Joyce Ainsworth said Monday the majority of the non-profits that provide services to the county are hurting more with each passing day. She said several have noted they likely will not be able to provide services if the budget impasse continues into 2016.
