The 51st annual Spirit of Christmas Parade in downtown Butler is Saturday.
But there’s a lot of other activities happening as well.
It’s the official welcome to the holiday season in Butler and for another year, there are many activities to enjoy along with the parade. It all starts Saturday at 12pm.
There will be activities like a life-sized CandyLand game at the Butler YMCA, Reindeer Games for younger kids at the Butler Library, a petting zoo at the New Castle Street Plaza, and a brand new ice-skating rink in Peoples TWP’s parking lot off Main Street .
In the New Castle Street Plaza area, there will be mascots around for you to grab a snapshot of, including the Pirate Parrot, Elsa and Olaf. That’s where you can take your Selfie With Elfie.
At some point, make your way to the Butler City Fire Station (also on West New Castle Street) and grab a free cup of hot chocolate. Of course, businesses will be open for most of the day for you to support Small Business Saturday.
Then, at 5:30 p.m., the main event comes into play. The 51st Annual Spirit of Christmas Parade will travel down Main Street with at least 65 groups, 30 floats, marching bands, balloons, marching bands and more.
The theme of the parade this year is Christmas Around the World and will again be decked out in lights!
