Over 1,100 pairs of socks have been collected for local senior citizens through this year’s Butler Radio Network ‘Socks For Seniors’ campaign.
Thanks to the generosity of Butler community, including the Butler Blue Sox and Pittsburgh Plastics, hundreds of socks are being delivered this week to seniors through the Meals on Wheels program.
This goodwill project was started in Columbus, Ohio in 2002 to help seniors keep their feet warm in the winter.
It has since spread nationwide and is done near the holidays, which can be a particularly difficult time for seniors.
