A longtime fundraiser to benefit local children is underway for yet another year.
It’s the 21st year for the Caring Angel Basket Auction put together by the Butler Health System Foundation.
Each year, the Caring Angel Program raises money to provide free emergency room care to children under 18 years old whose parents or guardians don’t have insurance or the resources to pay. The program also helps support the Family Services arm of the Butler Health System, which offers a variety of specialized therapeutic programs for kids and their families.
The elaborate baskets will be on display through Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Nixon/Sarver Education Center inside the Butler Hospital Tower, including on weekends. Tickets are $5 for 10, and $10 for 25. A 50/50 raffle is also on sale.
Butler Radio’s country music station- WBUT 1050AM- broadcast live inside Butler Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning talking about the basket auction and the programs it supports.
To date, nearly $2 million has been raised to support the program.
The Caring Angels Basket Auction has gotten more and more elaborate over the years. This year, people have a chance to win a multitude of prizes, including a toolbox, bike and kayaks.
