An estimated 400,000 fans were in downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday to welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins back to town with the Stanley Cup. An estimated 50,000 more than the last Penguins parade in 2009.
Also yesterday, the hockey world mourned the passing of “Mr. Hockey” Gordie Howe with a memorial service in Detroit. He died last Friday at the age of 88.
