Pennsylvania is not doing enough to reduce tobacco use, according to a recently issued report.
The 15th annual American Lung Association State of Tobacco Control Report issued our state failing grades in areas like funding for tobacco prevention programs, access to services to quit tobacco, and minimum age of sale of tobacco products.
Although Pennsylvania increased the cigarette tax by $1 to $2.60, the Lung Association of PA believes an opportunity was missed to further protect residents from harmful health effects with a tax on smokeless tobacco and cigars. The report also points out that our state is one of 22 without a comprehensive, smoke-free law.
