The concern for contaminated romaine lettuce still exists and the first local lawsuit has been filed from a resident of Allegheny County.
Bethel Park resident Gary Shields told KDKA through his lawyer that he ate contaminated romaine at a Panera Bread store in Washington County in mid March. He gradually began to feel sick and 10 days later, he was hospitalized.
He says he spent five days in the hospital with severe diarrhea and severe dehydration. Tests confirmed he had E.coli bacteria.
Pennsylvania continues to lead the nation in E.coli cases linked to the lettuce.

The first death has also been reported.
Federal health officials say California reported the death, but they did not provide other details.
The government now has reports of 121 people who got sick in 25 states. Health officials have tied the E.coli outbreak to romaine lettuce grown in Yuma, Arizona, which provides most of the romaine sold in the U.S. during the winter.
