The AK Steel Corp. has ratified a two-and-a-half-year contract with the union covering roughly 1,200 hourly and maintenance employees of the Butler Works plant.
Members of the United Auto Workers Local 3303 union voted on Monday and Tuesday in Butler.
The agreement will be in effect until April 1, 2019. The previous contract ends on October 1 of this year. Details of the new contract were not released.
“We are pleased to have reached a labor agreement at Butler Works ahead of the expiration date,” said Roger K. Newport, Chief Executive Officer of AK Steel, in a news release. “This early resolution positions us well to meet the future needs of our customers, as we continue to drive our sales of more value-added and innovative products.”
The Butler Works plant produces a range of flat-rolled, stainless and carbon steels. The company is headquartered in West Chester, Ohio and has manufacturing plants in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.
