The Butler Airport is taking steps to prepare if former President Donald Trump were to return to the area.
Last night the board heard a motion to host a Trump rally next month, if the campaign were to reach out.
Airport officials say Sheriff Mike Slupe called to make the request. Slupe tells our newsroom that no one from the campaign has been in contact about a rally. He says if the airport could host the rally, he would help connect the campaign with the airport.
Not long after the attempted assassination on Trump at the Farm Show Grounds, the former president said that he plans to return to Butler in October. No specific date has been announced by the campaign.
