Butler County is under an Air Quality Alert.
The code orange alert was issued Monday morning by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to the alert.
“Sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity,” the alert reads.
Another hot and humid day is expected on Monday, with temperatures heading into the 90s.

If you’re a Central Electric Cooperative member, you’re asked to conserve power on Monday by turning off all non-essential electric items, especially lighting, dehumidifiers and pool pumps. CEC anticipates a demand peak from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“CEC does everything it can to keep electricity affordable for members. If the co-op can reduce electricity purchased during high-demand periods, it helps keep energy costs stable for all members,” according to the alert.
