With Tax Day less than a month away, Pennsylvania’s attorney general is warning residents to be on the lookout for scammers.
Josh Shapiro says that ahead of the April 18th deadline, you should be careful when receiving calls or texts that claim to be about their taxes.
Scammers will often pose as the IRS or a fake tax agency called the “Bureau of Tax Enforcement” to try and frighten consumers into giving away their information.
Shapiro says the IRS never initiates contact with taxpayers, and the only way to review your account is online at IRS.gov or at 800-829-1040.
