Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced a settlement of $485,000 with Equifax, a national consumer credit reporting agency.
Over 51,000 Pennsylvania’s who applied for a loan saw a negative score shift but it was due to a coding error. In March 2022 the error was discovered and resolved fully by April 8.
The money will go to the Pennsylvania Treasury and additional costs to the Office of Attorney General.
Equifax will also reimburse lenders and insures affected by the error to Equifax but it must be done by December 31, 2024.
