If you’re driving to your Thanksgiving destination today, it will cost you a little more to get there.
According to AAA’s Jana Tidwell, the average price for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $2.78. That is 42 cents more per gallon than it was on Thanksgiving 2016.
Still, AAA is projecting nearly 1.9 million Pennsylvanians will travel over the long weekend, a three-and-a-half percent increase over last year.
The majority are still traveling by car (88 percent). Tidwell suggests coming home from your destination either Saturday or early Sunday to beat the rush.
“The majority of people will be coming home on Sunday afternoon and evening,” she said.
AAA says a stronger economy and labor market are enabling more people to spend money on holiday travel.
