It’s going to be a busy weekend on the roadways.
AAA predicts over two million vehicles will be traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike over the four-day Labor Day weekend. Traffic is expected to be the heaviest Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Labor Day, Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
You won’t have to worry about avoiding construction zones because all maintenance and construction activities will be suspended this afternoon through Wednesday morning. All travel lanes will be open to traffic except in emergencies.
Also, the turnpike commission says they plan to have additional personnel on duty to assist drivers if they do break down or have issues. And another organization that will have a greater presence on the roadways? The Pennsylvania State Police.
Patrols will be increased with officers looking for speeders, distracted drivers and aggressive drivers. That includes following a vehicle too closely and making unsafe lane changes.
While you’re traveling this weekend have a passenger visit the turnpike’s Trip Talk app to check real-time traffic alerts.
