Travel experts are reminding drivers to keep an emergency kit in the car as you hit the road this summer.
Kathleen Zinszer of AAA says packing a kit filled with emergency essentials can help in case your vehicle breaks down.
“Don’t get thrown off by the word emergency. This is something that can give you peace of mind while you’re on the road,” Zinszer said. “These things can take 15 to 20 minutes to put togethe. You keep them in your car and you don’t have to think about it.”
So what kind of items should your emergency kit consist of?
“You want to make sure you have some extra windshield washer fluid, tool kit, first aid kit. Make sure you pack a few extra bottles of water and snacks. And make sure you have roadside assistance programmed into your phone,” Zinszer said.
Zinszer also says with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it’s a good idea to keep items like face masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes in your car.
