A new study out by AAA says that owners of vehicles that have driver assistance technology may not be as knowledgeable as they think in regards to how it works.
The travel agency says drivers who use the “learn as I go” approach did not have a full understanding of the technology compared to a group of drivers who took a brief class on it.
In fact, they observed a sub-group of drivers who were overconfident in their use of driver assisted technology and were prone to making mistakes.
AAA recommends that researchers, automakers, and the government work better together to understand driver behavior and interactions with advanced technologies.
