The American League All-Star team defeated the National League 4-3 last night in Cleveland. It was the seventh straight win for the A.L. All-Stars. Pirates first baseman Josh Bell started the game as the National League designated hitter. He collected the first of five hits for the N.L. He was 1-for-2 at the plate. Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez did not make an appearance.
The Pittsburgh Pirates resume their season Friday in Chicago. They will begin the unofficial second half of their season 2-1/2 games out of first place in the National League Central Division.
