Slippery Rock University will be offering three new degree programs beginning next fall.
Late last week, the PA State System of Higher Education Board of Governors approved SRU’s proposal to create a bachelor of science in homeland security, a bachelor of science in corporate security, and a master of public health.
The homeland security degree will prepare students to detect, investigate, and prevent threats to the United States. The corporate security degree is the first such degree in the state system and will allow students to achieve professional Fraud Examiner certification. The public health masters will emphasize the promotion of health and wellness within environmental and occupational areas.
Both bachelor programs will require 120 credits with 60 credits in the major while the masters program will require 42 credits and be able to be completed in less than two years. All three programs are in areas that are expected to see job growth in the future.
