Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley has been suspended for two games following a takeout slide that ended New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada’s season. Major League Baseball has called the slide “illegal”. Game three of the series between the Dodgers and Mets will take place tonight. It is tied at 1-1.
The Pittsburgh Pirates had two players injured during the season because of take-out slides. Shortstop Jordy Mercer missed time during the season, and Jung Ho Kang was lost for the season in a slide play.
The MLB playoffs continue today with all three divisional series being featured.
