Several local athletic teams are paying the price for a failure to follow the rules when playing on Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.
Stadium Manager Dean Selfridge informed the City of Butler Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority that some teams have not been following field rules they agreed to when they signed the rental agreement.
The Pine Richland High School baseball team was fined $300 for recently permitting athletes to wear metal spikes on the field. Metal spikes can cause damage to the artificial turf. A number of other schools have also been fined $300 for allowing players to chew sunflower seeds while using the stadium. The seeds create issues when they become ground into the turf.
