Evans City will unveil an area commemorating the film “Night of the Living Dead” on Friday.
Kevin Kreiss, the founder of the Night of the Living Dead Museum in Evans City, says it’s more than just a plaque. It includes multiple markers and pedestals in a grassy area by the Evans City Library.
Ideas started flowing about possible signs indicating the film being made in the area as well as statues. It was decided to put those ideas together, in a sense, and create this destination location for visitors.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 4 p.m. on Friday which will lead into the borough’s Night of the Living Dead Weekend.
Each year, the area celebrates its role in the cult zombie classic, directed by George Romero in 1968.
