The Slippery Rock University football team has made its way back into the top 25 rankings according to D2football.com this week. SRU re-enters the D2 ranking at number-25. The Rock had been ranked as high as number-14 in the nation prior to losing a close game 41-38 two weeks ago to Seton Hill. The Rock dominated pre-season PSAC-West favorite Gannon 41-14 in Erie last Saturday. They continue to receive votes in the American Football Coaches Association poll, but are not back to the top 25, but are considered the second-best in Super Region-1 from where seven teams will be selected for the NCAA playoffs in November.
The Rock will host California Saturday for their Homecoming game at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kick-off is 2pm. The Rock Station will host a tailgate party beginning at noon Saturday and present the game beginning at 1:30pm.
