A local city administrator has submitted a letter of resignation.
Art Cordwell, executive director of the City of Butler Redevelopment Authority, spoke to our newsroom Wednesday afternoon. “It’s my last day but I told the chairman that I would stay on to help in the transition whatever that might be and I don’t know the details of that yet.”
The Redevelopment Authority board is expected to act on Cordwell’s letter during their meeting Monday (10/5) at 5:30 p.m. at the City Building.
Cordwell has been frustrated with the long delays in state funding that the authority relies upon. However the timing of the resignation has more to do with the realization of the Centre City Project and the resolution to the situation with Kelly Automotive Park.
“We brought the Centre City Project to fruition which was the number one project that I was asked to take on when I came to the Redevelopment Authority. I look at that and I say I’ve been successful and I think we’re moving ahead. We still have a ways to go but I think it’s good,” Cordwell explained.
Cordwell has been Executive Director of the City of Butler Redevelopment Authority for over four years.
