The Pittsburgh Penguins snapped a three-game pre-season losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night in Johnstown. Rookie Sergei Plotnikov scored a goal and added an assist on an Evgeni Malkin goal. Ian Cole and Adam Clendening scored for the Penguins, who improved to 3-3. The Pens host the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Consol Energy Center. Face-off is 7pm. The Pens travel to Carolina to wrap-up the pre-season Friday. The open the regular season in Dallas next Thursday.
The Penguins were surrounded by the theme of the movie “Slapshot” last night at the Cambria County War Memorial. It was the inaugural Kraft Hockeyville USA game, and featured an appearance by the trio of actors who played the Hansen brothers in the film.
