The wait for Thomas Rhett’s sophomore album, Tangled Up, is over today (Friday, September 25th). Fans and radio have already responded in a big way to his first single, “Crash And Burn,” which quickly climbed to Number One and has been certified Gold. Now, Thomas is ready to share the other 12 songs on the album, which he tells us collectively create a musical roller coaster ride. “I mean, I feel like when you listen from track one to the last, I feel like it takes you on a journey through a lot of different time periods. I feel like you’re gonna find yourself going from 1950 all the way up to 2015, and you’re gonna hear party songs, you’re gonna hear love songs, you’re gonna hear break up songs, you’re gonna hear songs about life, and then you’re just gonna hear songs that just kind of just make you smile and make you laugh and make you want to dance, and so I hope when they’re listening to it they listen to it with an open mind and I hope they go into it saying, ‘Dang, that was a lot to digest and TR definitely took a little bit of a left turn but I like it and I support it and can’t wait to see these songs played in a live setting.’”
Rhett celebrates Tangled Up release day with an in-store visit to Best Buy in Tulsa, Oklahoma before playing a full concert there tonight on the Anything Goes tour with headliner Florida Georgia Line. Thomas tells us: “That show’s gonna be really crazy for us cause it’ll be the first time that me and the band have ever played any of these songs in front of people. We’ll have rehearsed them and we’ll have worked them up and we’ll try to get them in the best form we possibly can, but until you play them for a live audience you never really know how they’re gonna sound and how people are gonna react but it’ll be a lot of fun to know that the album is out and that the people in the crowd have a chance to go download it or go buy it and they could come that night literally singing every word to every song we sing of a new song, which would definitely blow my mind, but just having that setting in a Friday night and the record coming out on a Friday is just gonna be a huge party for sure.”
Thomas started the party on Wednesday (September 23rd) in Dallas at AT&T Stadium where he and hundreds of fans got “Tangled Up” playing the largest game of Twister ever on the Dallas Cowboys’ field. A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records certified they had broken the previous record set in 2011 by a university in the Netherlands.
