A fight over a paycheck led to a local pizza shop manager getting stabbed in the back.
Butler City Police arrested Stephen Critchlow, 22, of Butler Township Friday after they say he showed up at Vocelli Pizza on West Cunningham Street in Butler City’s West End to get his paycheck. According to a criminal complaint, the store’s manager William McCullough, 41, of Penn Township, initially refused to hand over the check until Critchlow returned his store keys.
After the keys were returned and the paycheck handed out, police say the two men walked outside of the store arguing, and that is where Critchlow stabbed McCullough in the left side of his back with a knife.
Critchlow says he was acting in self-defense.
“Critchlow stated that McCullough attacked him and he was very story for stabbing him,” according to a criminal complaint.
Police say Critchlow did suffer facial injuries after being allegedly punched by McCullough.
McCullough was taken to Butler Memorial where he was treated and released. Both men face charges.
