The Butler Area School District is hiring an outside firm to help with continuing transportation issues.
At a Monday night meeting, the school board voted unanimously to contract with Intermediate Unit 28 at a cost of $500 a day for a period of up to 10 days to assist with bus scheduling.
IU 28 specializes in helping districts figure out optimum transportation. The district has contracted with this organization several times in the past, including as recently as last year, but that was before final consolidation plans were decided and approved.
Although one parent spoke at the meeting last night of transportation improvements over the past week, a couple others voiced concerns about continued problems.
The IU 28 will consult under the direction of the district’s transportation director.
