Members of the Clearfield community have further organized a group in an attempt to assume ownership of the former Clearfield Elementary School.
Several residents of Clearfield Township again spoke to the Butler school board during a Monday night meeting about the importance of the school to their identity as a community.
One of those people was Dan Mennor, Chairman of the newly formed non-profit organization called Clearfield Community Center. Mennor presented District Solicitor Tom King and board members with a letter detailing the group’s efforts so far.
Mennor also mentioned that Clearfield Township supervisors would be willing to become involved in the process if necessary.
The group is planning to present a plan to the board in the near future but asked that no action be taken on the property until then.
