The Liquor Control Board’s former marketing director pleaded guilty to mail fraud in federal court.
James Short, 50, of Harrisburg admitted he took kickbacks from a vender whose products he helped put on the shelves of Pennsylvania’s state-run liquor stores. He was in charge of the marketing and merchandise for nine years and supervised the process in which the board selected alcoholic beverages for sale.
Short is the first state liquor board official convicted in what’s believed to be an ongoing federal investigation.
