A Butler woman is facing charges of making a false report to law enforcement following an accident last month.
According to a Butler City Police report, 26-year-old Sarah Boudoin was driving in the 200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard on August 14th when she approached a Butler Transit Authority bus traveling in the other direction.
Boudoin ran her vehicle into a ditch and claimed that the bus was responsible for forcing her off the road. No one was injured. An officer was able to review video on the incident provided by the Transit Authority and determine the bus driver was not at fault.
Two weeks later the Transit Authority determined that the investigation cost them $500 worth of time and expense for employees. At that time the Authority decided to press charges in an effort to combat what has been an ongoing problem of false reports involving buses.
Making a false report to law enforcement is a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree and Boudoin will receive her charges through the mail.
