The Butler School District will not be entering into an agreement with the Butler Transit Authority for bus service to Center Township Elementary School.
At a meeting Monday, the school board voted unanimously against a proposal the district administration had been working on with the transit authority to add three stops per weekday at the school.
Ultimately, District Solicitor Tom King advised against the motion as he says it would introduce a possible security issue on school property with public transportation.
Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley will continue exploring other options in an effort to provide a solution for families living downtown who do not have transportation to the school their children now attend.
