The Pennsylvania State Police will be accepting unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs Saturday (Sept. 12) as part of National Drug Take-Back Day.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., unwanted medications can be dropped off at the Butler barracks, off New Castle Road in Butler Township, or other select state police stations.
The day is meant to provide a safe environment to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse and trafficking of medications.
Officials say non-medical use of controlled substance medications is at an all-time high, with nearly seven million Americans abusing prescription drugs in 2012.
