Butler City Council won’t be paying as much as they expected to have a couple of roofs replaced on local municipal buildings.
During a meeting Wednesday, council approved a bid from Fuller Home Building for nearly $144,000 to replace the roof on the Public Safety Building and the City Building. The initial estimated cost of the jobs was over $210,000.
Three contractors submitted bids for the work and all had to include a manufacturer’s warranty.
The roof on the Public Safety Building is original to the 1993 construction, while the City Building roof was last replaced sometime in the 1980s
The job is expected to begin in three to four weeks and be completed within 90 days as long as weather cooperates.
