When South Butler students begin school Wednesday, they will be going back to a more secure facility.
During the summer, the district has installed captured entrances to all their buildings where parents or other school visitors will have their identification checked at an outside kiosk before the doors open.
Once inside the captured entrance, visitors will interact with a secretary behind security glass to determine if they have a valid reason for being let into the building itself.
The district also hired an additional school police officer, bringing the total number to four now on the South Butler campus. The new security measures cost nearly $700,000.
