The Butler Area School District is moving ahead with plans to give their S.T.E.A.M. labs the newest technologies.
At their meeting Monday night, the school board approved purchase of a CNC (automated milling) machine at a cost of nearly $7,600, as well as a Laser Engraving Machine at a cost of $7,900.
Both machines will be used at the new Middle School STEAM program to enhance technology education by giving kids real world skills in the areas of 3-D design and laser engraving design.
Officials say $16,000 was already set aside in the current budget for this purchase.
S.T.E.A.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
