The United States women’s soccer team defeated Costa Rica 8-0 Sunday in the opening game of their Victory Tour. The game was played before over 44,000 fans at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, the most to ever watch a soccer match in Pittsburgh. The game was the first for the women’s team since winning the World Cup. Pine-Richland graduate Megan Klingenberg scored a goal for the United States and celebrated the goal with hometown fans by waving a Steelers “Terrible Towel”.
