More information has been released about the shooting of a 5-year-old Ford City boy that we first told you about earlier this week.
Our news partners at WPXI say that the boy, who was shot Wednesday morning, suffered a wound to the neck and shoulder area. He has been recovering at Children’s Hospital.
The State Police have been investigating the incident. Authorities say the boy’s parents knew that the two loaded 9mm handguns were left loaded on the kitchen table Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Police also say that firearms have been left loaded in the family’s home in the past. Our news partners also mentioned that officials took at least five guns and four boxes of ammunition from the home as evidence.
The district attorney’s office will decide if charges will be filed after they receive the results of forensics and ballistics tests.
Officials expect the boy to make a full recovery.
