The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a three-game series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers following a 13-6 victory Sunday night at PNC Park. The Pirates trailed most of the game, but put up nine runs in the seventh inning. Andrew McCutchen hit his 17th home run of the season and drove in four runs. Francisco Cervelli and Jung Ho Kang also hit home runs. The Pirates had 16 hits in the game.
The Pirates are off today and begin a key three-game series in St. Louis Tuesday. The Bucs gained a game on the Cardinals, who lost to Milwaukee Sunday and are now five games back in the National League Central Division.
In the Prospect League playoffs, the West Virginia Miners defeated the Chillicothe Paints 4-3 Sunday to win the Eastern Division championship. West Virginia will meet the Terre Haute Rex in the league championship series beginning Tuesday.
