The man accused of killing 11 people in a mass shooting last year at a synagogue in Pittsburgh has pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Monday morning on additional charges.
The hearing this morning in federal court for 46-year-old Robert Bowers was short, lasting no more than 15 minutes, according to our news partners at WPXI-TV.
Bowers arrived in a red jumpsuit with his ankles and wrists shackled.
He requested a trial by jury, but his attorney told the judge that she does not want to go to trial, and would instead like to resolve the case with a plea deal.
A grand jury last month added 19 counts to the 44 original charges Bowers had faced following the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill last October.
Bowers continues to be housed in the Butler County Prison in downtown Butler.
